Hände hoch für Waffenkontrolle
jede Minute stirbt ein Mensch durch Waffengewalt. Dieses Jahr könnte die UNO endlich klare Regeln beschließen, die den Waffenhandel eindämmen. Hände hoch für Waffenkontrolle!

Arbeitsgruppe Syrien im Gespräch mit Radioaktiv

Thomas aus der Arbeitsgruppe Syrien wurde von Radioaktiv interviewt. Dabei spricht er über die Arbeit der Amnesty Hochschulgruppe und insbesondere über die der Arbeitsgruppe zu Syrien. Unter anderem erklärt er, wie die Proteste und die Gewalt in Syrien begannen. Zudem erzählt er von einem Infostand über die Situation in Syrien, der am 28.4. am Paradeplatz stehen wird.

Human Rights Film Club presents "Storm" - Date changed to 28.3.!!!

Hello everybody,

the Amnesty International university group and VISUM Mannheim kindly invite you to the first Human Rights Film Club evening in this semester. On 28.3., 7pm, room EW 169, we will show "Storm".
The movie from 2009 is about the story of Hannah Maynard, a prosecutor of Hague's Tribunal for war crimes in former Yugoslavia, who charges a Serbian commander for killing Bosniaks. However, her main witness might be lying, so the court sends a team to Bosnia to investigate.
A very interesting and controversial topic.

There will be snacks and drinks for free and we will give background information about the history prior to the movie.

HWS 2011:

Second Film on october 19th: Hotel Rwanda

Hello everybody,

the Amnesty International university group and VISUM Mannheim kindly invite you to the second Human Rights Film Club evening in this semester. At 19.00 o'clock at the room EW 165 we will be showing "Hotel Rwanda" which is a 2004 American drama film directed by Terry George. This film deals with the Rwandan Genocide in 1994 and is based on real life events. The film stars Don Cheadle as hotelier Paul Rusesabagina, who attempts to save his fellow citizens from the ravages of Genocide.

There will be snacks and drinks for free and we will give background information about the history prior to the movie.

First Film on september 21st: Trade - welcome to America

Hello everybody,

the Amnesty International university group and VISUM Mannheim kindly invite you to the first Human Rights Film Club evening in this semester. At 19.00 o'clock at the room EW 165 we will be showing "Trade - welcome to America" from 2007, which was produced by Roland Emmerich and Rosilyn Heller. The film deals with modern slavery, sex slavery, forced prostitution and slave trade.

There will be snacks and drinks for free and we will give background information about the history prior to the movie.

Human Rights Film Club restarts

HSG Amnesty International Mannheim in cooperation with VISUM are organizing a Film Club this Semester! Every fourth Wednesday at 19.00 o'clock at the EW 165 we will be showing different documentaries/movies dealing with different aspects of Human Rights and their violations worldwide. These screenings will be accompanied by a short presentation/ introduction on the specific issue and maybe a discussion after having watched the movie.
